China closes 2025 with record foreign trade of 45.47 trillion yuan, ninth consecutive year of growth

According to figures released by China's General Administration of Customs, the country's foreign trade reached a total value of 45.47 trillion yuan in 2025, an increase of 3.8% over 2024 and the highest volume on record. Exports totaled 26.99 trillion yuan (+6.1%) and imports 18.48 trillion yuan (+0.5%).

This marks the ninth consecutive year of growth in Chinese foreign trade, the longest uninterrupted expansion period since the country joined the World Trade Organization.

By region, China's trade with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) grew 8%, with Latin America 6.5%, and with Africa 18.4%. Trade with countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative reached 23.6 trillion yuan (+6.3%), equivalent to 51.9% of the country's total trade.

Exports of high-tech products grew 13.2%, reaching 5.25 trillion yuan. The so-called "new three" (electric vehicles, lithium batteries, and solar cells) and wind turbines saw export growth of 27.1% and 48.7%, respectively.
